Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS JUNGIAN ANALYSIS?

It is a form of counselling, therapy, or personal development, in which you are met at your depth.

In this process, we attempt to listen to the messages of the unconscious, through dreams, intuitive paintings, repeated life patterns, and synchronicities, and integrate those inner messages to the day-to-day reality.

At times, Jungian analysis could also be a space to explore the meaning of experiences that logic seems unable to explain.  This experience could be those aspects of our lives that are perceived as dark but it could also be those that are beautiful yet perplexing.

Jungian analysts come from various previous professional and personal backgrounds which colour the way we work.  The training program is rigorous and usually lasts between four and eight years.  It involves supervised work with clients, academic studies, and personal analysis/therapy.  We also participate in ongoing professional and personal development as part of our commitment to this work.

HOW DO YOU WORK?

We work together to carry and connect different parts of your stories.  We also attempt to hold the space to help you in staying with the not-knowing when this situation arises.

I often work with dreams and the use of creative arts to process emotions and life experiences.  I respect the body and I endeavor to give space to the body in psychotherapy in various ways.  In certain cases, it is the process of art making or in the writing of dreams.  Without undermining the medical implication, we might also attempt to find the meaning of certain physical sensations and symptoms.  In some cases, I encourage you to have some form of body work elsewhere, when appropriate.

There are no specific techniques that can be applied in all scenarios.  Each situation is unique and requires different approaches.

I DO NOT HAVE DREAMS AND I DO NOT DO ARTS. CAN I STILL WORK WITH YOU?

Certainly.  Different things are relevant to different people.  I adapt my approach to your situations.

IS PSYCHOANALYSIS FOR ME?

This type of therapy could help when there is an urge to understand and to explore the vastness of the psyche.  Regardless of the type of therapy, a good working relationship between yourself and your therapist is the most important ingredient.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE THERAPY PROCESS MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE?

I suggest you to discuss this in the session as it could potentially lead to a positive shift in the process.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT LAST AND HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?

The sessions last for 60 minutes.  Most of the time clients come once a week.
